Mandela Day is a time for giving back and making a positive impact in our communities. This year, World Sports Betting’s CSI team, WSB Cares, chose to celebrate this special day by visiting the CHOC Foundation in Centurion. Our team was excited to contribute to the incredible work CHOC does in supporting children and teenagers battling cancer.
What is CHOC?
The Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (CHOC) is a non-profit organization that advocates for the health and well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders and their families. The passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers of CHOC aim to save lives through early detection and comprehensive support programs for the families affected by cancer. They offer psychosocial, emotional, and practical support, augmenting the efforts of various medical fraternities.
Bringing Life and Color to CHOC
Our day at the CHOC Foundation was filled with meaningful activities aimed at brightening the environment for the young patients and their families. The WSB Cares team rolled up their sleeves and got to work, planting a beautiful flower garden that would bring a touch of nature and serenity to the foundation’s grounds. Each plant and flower was chosen to create a vibrant and uplifting space where children and their families could find a moment of peace and joy amidst their challenging journeys.
Super Hero Murals: Inspiring Strength and Hope
In addition to gardening, we also brought our artistic talents to the walls of CHOC. Our team painted colorful superhero murals to inspire and empower the young patients as part of a larger initiative. These murals are not just decorations; they are symbols of strength, courage, and hope. Each superhero character was carefully selected and painted to remind the children that they, too, possess incredible inner strength and are heroes in their own right.
A Long-Standing Partnership
We have supported CHOC for many years, and this visit was another opportunity to strengthen our commitment to this invaluable organization. It was heartwarming to see the positive impact our efforts had on the children and their families. The dedication of the CHOC staff and volunteers continues to inspire us to do more for those in need.
