WSB CARES VISIT Visit Red Cross Children’s Hospital

WSB Western Province Cricket Teams Visit Red Cross Children’s Hospital for Mandela Day

CAPE TOWN, NEWLANDS – In the true spirit of Mandela Day 2025, the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), in partnership with World Sports Betting (WSB), paid a heartfelt visit to the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital – bringing joy, generosity, and a powerful message of community upliftment.

Spreading Smiles at Red Cross Hospital

The initiative, now an annual tradition for WPCA, saw WSB Western Province players, management, WPCA staff, and key representatives from title sponsor World Sports Betting coming together to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy of giving. In a player-driven initiative, the teams handed out gifts and interacted with young patients – creating a memorable morning full of smiles, laughter and inspiration.

Dressed proudly in Western Province colours, both the men’s and women’s teams took part in the visit, embodying the values of compassion, unity, and service.

Partner Support from Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages

Adding to the day’s goodwill, Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages, the official beverage partner, generously donated cool drinks for the hospital’s dedicated staff and nurses – a small gesture of appreciation for their tireless work in paediatric healthcare.

A Centre of Excellence in Child Health

Opened in 1956, the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital is the first and only stand-alone tertiary children’s hospital in sub-Saharan Africa. Renowned globally for its groundbreaking work in paediatric medicine and specialist training, the facility is a beacon of hope for thousands of young patients and families every year.

R20,000 Donation Towards a Worthy Cause

In a proud moment for the association, WPCA Commercial and Marketing Manager Adrian de SouzaWSB Head of Design Leigh Hasson, and players Beuran Hendricks and Lara Goodall presented a cheque for R20,000 to the hospital – a tangible contribution to ongoing paediatric care and support.

Adrian de Souza reflected:

“This visit always reminds us of the impact sport can have far beyond the field. Seeing the joy on the children’s faces was truly humbling.”

Leigh Hasson added:

“World Sports Betting is honoured to partner with WPCA on this meaningful initiative. Giving back to the community is part of who we are, and supporting these children alongside such a respected hospital makes it even more rewarding.”
