Poker With A Purpose – A Night of High Stakes and Heart
The stakes were high and the cause even higher as World Sports Betting hosted its inaugural Charity Poker Evening, Poker With A Purpose, last Friday night at the opulent Daytona Motors showroom in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.
Brought to life by WSB Cares, the CSI arm of World Sports Betting, this exclusive, by-invitation-only event was a shining example of glamour meeting generosity. With the aim of raising meaningful funds for a range of deserving charities, the night combined star power, competitive spirit, and heartfelt impact.
The red carpet was rolled out for some of South Africa’s most recognisable faces. Music icons Cassper Nyovest and K.O., former footballers Morgan Gould and Junior Khanye, champion boxer Kevin Lerena, several Vodacom Bulls players, as well as personalities like DJ Warras, Ghost Hlubi, and Faith Nketsi, were all in attendance – not just to play, but to make a difference.
An Evening of Strategy and Significance
Set against the backdrop of luxury vehicles and buzzing excitement, the poker tables came alive with energy and anticipation. As chips were stacked and cards were dealt, the focus remained on the greater purpose — raising funds for impactful South African charities.
Emerging victorious on the night was Faith Nketsi’s team, who secured the top prize of R100,000 for her chosen charity, CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation SA). But in true community spirit, every charity walked away a winner.
